At the salad bar , Nicole can choose from, 4 different lettuce mixes, 8 different vegetables, 3 different cheeses, and 5 different dressings. She must choose one iem from each category. She must also decide whether or not to have croutons. How many different combinations are possible?

to answer your question ...

selections for lettuce mixes = 4
selections for vegetables = 8
selections for cheese = 3
selections for dressings = 5

possible decisions for croutons = 2 ( yes or no)

Hence, total no of combinations = 4*8*3*5*2 = 960 ...Ans ..
