1) x/y > 1
Column A : x
Column B : y
Clearly x>y . Answer given is D??How?

2) File attached – 2
E, F and G are the midpoints of AB, BC and Ad resp.
H has coordinates (j,k) and is at the intersection of line segments AF and EG.
Column A : j+k
Column B : 5

I found the coordinates of E,F and G resp as (0,4) , (6,8) and (6,0). Then found equations for EG and AF and then tried to solve them simultaneously. However the answer turns out to be j as –ve which is clearly not the case.
Please explain how to solve and where I went wrong.

3) Column A : (111+111)^2
Column B : 111^2 + 2(111)^2+111^2
Answer is C. How ? I got B

4) File attached – 1
Column A : x
Column B : y
Answer is D. How ?
Isnt it a parallelogram if opp angles are equal ?Thus x=y

5) x^4 + 3y^2 = 0
Column A : 2x-6y+1
Column B : 1
How do you solve this?

6) The cost of 4 cookies, 6 doughnuts and 3 boxes of doughnut holes is 8.15$
The cost of 2 cookies, 3 doughnuts and 4 boxes of doughnut holes is 7.20$
Column A : The cost of a box of doughnut holes
Column B : 1.25
The answer is C. How ? shouldn’t it be D ? Undeterminable ?

Hi Kunal,

Quickly to answer a couple of your questions:

The first one here..think about when x and y both are negative.

In the second one, nowhere does it say that the opposite sides are parallel. So the angles could be 120 and still it not be a parallelogram.

will get back soon with the remaining.

This one is a straight forward application of the formula (a + b)^2 = a^2 + 2 ab + b^2. Please verify!
a= 111 and b= 111

I dint realise at all in the 111 question. As soon as I saw exponents I was thinking how to solve it with exponents. I never thought in the line of polynomials! Thanks. What about 2, 5 and 6 ?
