"the" is necessary. I can't explain why. Maybe to be ll with "the information?" "All of the information...is contained" not "are". E

If feel answer is D.
Information is singular and in all the options except D and E, "ARE contained" is used so eliminate A, B, C. I feel D is short and precise as compared to E...
Please correct if I am wrong

The Correct option is D.
As mentioned by Akshay Eliminating A,B and C as they use "are" for the Information ( Singular).Also between D and E,the sentence demands the usage of "Merely" instead of "a mere"used in sentence E.and D is short and conveys the meaning clearly ......

Option (E).
The usage of "the" is for specifying the different genes found in a human body. The genes in a human body are the same in number but the orientation is different in different human beings. Thats why the usage of the definite article 'the' to mention genes.
Please clarify.
