sum of x and y? 2 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 2  
If x and y are consecutive odd integers, what is the sum of x and y?

(1) The product of x and y is negative.
(2) One of the integers is equal to –1

If X & Y are consecutive odd integers,

then from Statement 1.....
The product can only be negative if the integers are -1 & 1..... There could be no other odd integers whose product would be negative . So statement 1 is sufficient.... Hence AD

Statement 2:
One of the integers is -1....The other could be -3 or 1.... Hence not conclusive..

Answer option (A)

perfect...product is negative means 1 integer is negative and other positive ...n they have to be consecutive odd as well...hence integers could be -1 and 1 only..

Statement 2 is not sufficient. Ans A
