Lets start looking at the answer options again.

For 1), we have to find weakness to the evidence provided.
I was looking at the assumption while solving the question. The evidence here are the premises. They are:
a) A survey conducted by Weddings magazine found that 70 percent of the magazine’s readers want a catered wedding reception.
b) An analysis of the catering industry, however, shows that the current number of caterers can serve only 55 percent of the weddings likely to occur each year.

Option D compares readers of magazine and people. Here we can safely assume that the set of population reading Weddings Magazine is much lower than the set of people in general.
Exactly the point to conclude that no impressions can be formed on the catering business by just having the input from 70% of a particular magazine's readers.


For 2) I am not sure abt option E.
I still think it should be B. B has a concrete evidence while E is too vague. How many people say that they shud have catered reception at their wedding is unknown. We are trying to infer from a information which is out of scope of the argument.
